Transition Trucking; Driving for Excellence Award

Melbourne, Fla.—Amazing news are here! The nomination for a military veteran rookie trucker award by U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUNDATION has just begun. Employers and credentialing institutions (CDL schools) can nominate up to five rookie drivers for the contest. Nominations may be made by any for-hire carrier or private fleet employers, training organizations, the general public and/or other interested parties using the nomination form on transitiontrucking.org beginning June 11, 2021. Nominations will be valid only if the form is fully completed and submitted online any time before 5:00pm EDT on July 31, 2021 via the Google Form located via transitiontrucking.org/nominate.
To be eligible for the award, a nominee must:
Be a legal resident of the continental United States
Be a military veteran/prior service member or a current or former member of the National Guard or Reserves
Have graduated from a Professional Truck Driver Institute-certified or National Association of Publicly Funded Truck Driving Schools or Commercial Vehicle Training Association member driving training school
Be a current CDL holder
Have been first employed as a CDL driver between January 1, 2020, and July 31, 2021
Agree to all the award rules
Following is the criteria the Selection Committee will use to evaluate eligible Nominees to select the ten preliminary Finalists are the eligible Nominee’s before July 31st, 2021:
Essay questions provided in the nomination packet
Work record
Military service record
Non-job related activities/community service
Availability for loads
On-time delivery
Highway safety performance
Customer relations
The top 10 finalists will be announced in September. After a selection committee selects the top three Transition Trucking finalists, the public has the opportunity to vote for their favorite driver between Oct. 28 and Nov. 11. In December 2021, the winner will drive away in the Kenworth truck and start on the road toward an entrepreneurial career.
One Award Winner and two Runners-up will be selected from among the eligible preliminary Finalists by the Selection Committee based on:
The video profiles of the preliminary Finalists;
The completed submissions by the preliminary Finalist, which will include evidence of driving records; and
The public voting.
The Award Winner will receive:
A round-trip economy class airline ticket to award announcement location from the winner’s legal residence in the continental U.S. to attend the Award ceremony; value depends on flight departure location;
Two-night hotel stay near the announcement location;
A 2020 Kenworth T680, with an MSRP of approximately $155,000.
Each of the two (2) Runners-up will receive:
A round-trip economy class airline ticket to award announcement location from the runner-up’s legal residence in the continental U.S. to attend the Award ceremony; value depends on flight departure location;
Two-night hotel stay near the announcement location;
$10,000.00 in prize money.
